The Eurofighter Typhoon is a new aircraft for the United Kingdom that appears in Wargame: Red Dragon.
The Eurofighter Typhoon is a twin-engine, single-seat, canard-equipped, delta wing supersonic multirole fighter. Born out of the British Aerospace Experimental Aircraft Program (EAP) of the 1980's, the Eurofighter was designed by a consortium of BAE Systems, Airbus Group and Alenia Aermacchi under the holding company Eurofighter Jagdflugzeug GmbH. First flown as a prototype in 1994, the Eurofighter Typhoon entered service in 2003 with the German Luftwaffe, and is now in use with the Royal Air Force, Italian Aeronautica Militare, and multiple other air forces across the world.
The Eurofighter features a "glass cockpit" of multi-function displays, compatibility with a variety of advanced air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles, laser and GPS guided bombs, anti-ship missiles, and anti-radar missiles. The movable canards forward of the wing give the type superb maneuverability, and helmet-mounted sights allow the Eurofighter's pilot to take high-off-boresight (HOBS) shots with its air-to-air missile compliment.
The Eurofighter Typhoon is a prototype air superiority fighter available to UK and Commonwealth decks. It carries powerful ECM, four AIM-9M Sidewinder and four AIM-120A AMRAAM air to air missiles, and a Mauser BK-27 cannon. The type features exceptional air detection and has a very tight turn radius. The AMRAAM is a highly accurate fire and forget missile, which allows the Typhoon to shoot and break away from its target, and the type is well equipped to deal with either enemy fighters or helicopters. The chief drawback of the Typhoon is its cost - at 175 points per aircraft, it is well worth sending several less expensive fighters to swarm and splash.
