F/A-18A | F/A-18C | F/A-18E |
The F/A-18C Hornet is a multi-role combat aircraft for the United States that appears in Wargame: AirLand Battle.
History[]
The McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) F/A-18C Hornet is a twin-engine supersonic, all-weather carrier-capable multi-role combat jet, designed to dogfight and attack ground targets (F/A designation for Fighter/Attack). Designed by McDonnell Douglas and Northrop, the F/A-18 was derived from the latter's YF-17 in the 1970s for use by the United States Navy and Marine Corps.
Overview[]
Airland Battle[]
The F/A-18C Hornet represents the best multi-role aircraft featured in United States and multi-national decks.
It excels at precision strikes against single ground targets with its AGM-65F Maverick missiles.
It is a plane that is highly capable of fighting one on one fighters with most planes,it has Good ECM which means that the plane can at a risk go up against enemy Interceptors and some Air Superiority Fighters that are equal or lower than it in cost with it's AIM-9M Sidewinders giving it a decent Air to Air load out it can't compete with Air Superiority Fighters at it's cost (SU-27) due to the large amount of medium range missiles but if you can get them close you will generally get a hit with the accurate missile. Against ground targets it packs a huge punch with it's AGM-65F fire and forget missiles which are capable of one shooting almost any pact Tank that it hits and it's ECM means you can use it slightly more aggressively than other Strike Fighters/Multi-Roles.
Over all the F/A-18C is a decent and cost effective Aircraft if used intelligently, it is a borderline super plane but must be treated with respect done right will cause your opponents to fear the sight of a plane cruising towards their armoured columns.
Red Dragon[]
The F/A-18C Hornet in Red Dragon is left largely untouched from its AirLand Battle configuration. Featuring very good ECM (40%), four Fire-and-Forget AGM-65F Maverick, a pair of AIM-9M's for self-defense and anti-helicopter purposes, and a 20mm Vulcan cannon, the F/A-18C remains an excellent Multi-Role fighter. It costs 10 points less per aircraft than in AirLand Battle.
