The Lù Zhànduì (Chinese: 陆战队, meaning "Marine Crops") is a marine type shock infantry available for China in Wargame: Red Dragon.

History[]

The Nationalist Republic of China established their Marine Corps in 1914, while the Communist forces and the later PLA didn't have a specialized marine corps and used regular troops to invade islands during WW2 and civil wars. When the PLA's invasion of the Republic of China's islands of Kinmen (Jin Men) failed in 1949, the PRC lost its chance to fully control Taiwan.

In 1953, in order to control the islands along the southeast coast, the East China Military Area Command officially established the 1st Marine Regiment based on one infantry regiment and two infantry battalions of the Army. On December 9, 1954, based on the 1st Marine Regiment and the Amphibious Tank Training Regiment were merged to form the 1st Marine Division. By the end of the Korean War, it consists 110,000 soldiers at one point.

In January 1957, the Central Military Commission adjusted the organizational structure of the entire army, and the Marine Division was abolished, but the Marine Regiment was retained. At this stage, each Marine Regiment of Naval Fleet will corporate with an Army Division to participate in landing. The Marine Regiments are responsible for conducting landing training for these Army Divisions.

In 1979, in order to achieve rapid deployment capabilities, the Central Military Commission decided to reform the Marine Corps and on May 5, 1980, reorganized the 1st Marine Brigade. A Marine Brigade has three Marine Battalions, one Tank Battalion, one Artillery Battalion, one Amphibious Armor Battalion, and one Communication Battalion; Each Marine Battalion has three marine companies, one anti-aircraft missile company, and one mortar company under its jurisdiction; In addition to the usual administrative and logistics, the brigade command also has company level units such as amphibious reconnaissance and helicopter section. A Marine Brigade has over 5000 personnel. However, despite maintaining the size of brigade to this day, the modern PLAN Marine Corps organization has undergone significant changes compared to the Cold War era.

The Type 56-I is the underfolding stock version of Type 56 (AK-47). It is somewhat strange for it to pair with the Type 81 LMG, since firstly the Year of Lù Zhànduì is 1980; And secondly the Type 81 LMG is the heavy barrel version of the Type 81 Assault Rifle (QBZ-81), therefore there is no reason not to use updated assault rifles. Also, the Type 81 LMG standardly uses a drum magazine, which is different from the game icon.

Overview[]

After the patch that changed its cost from 20 to 15, the cost-effectiveness of Lù Zhànduì was immediately improved and then became the most numerous and cheapest shock infantry in the game, as it can pair with 5-point ZSD-63 series which have 2 Front Armor. Players could even bring 3 slots of Veteran Lù Zhànduì paired with ZSD-63C, then depoly them all over the map.
