Guntank is a Japanese Radar Guided SPAAG that appears in Wargame: Red Dragon.
History[]
After the US gave Japan the M42 SPAAGs, now showing their age, the JSDF began look for a replacement for the M42s. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries would then be awarded a contract for the construction of a new SPAAG model as Type 87 self-propelled anti-aircraft gun.
Development began in 1982, with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries providing the chassis of the vehicle and the Japanese Steel Works providing the firing system. The original chassis was meant to be a Type 61, but was rejected and in favor of a Type 74 chassis. Prior to being engineered, a prototype model was built in 1983, before actual models being built in 1987, bearing similarities with the West German Flakpanzer Gepard.
These were used in the 7th Division's 7th Anti-aircraft Special Battalion and the 2nd Division's 2nd Anti-aircraft Special Battalion.
