From June 1957 to April 1958, MiG-17F entered East German service to replace Yak-11 and MiG-15. MiG-17F was the most used version of the MiG-17 in East German service with 173 used. These were used as the standard fighter until starting in 1960 being replaced by MiG-21s.
Overview[]
The MiG-17 appears in the East-German Arsenal as a ground attack aircraft. It is a "bomb taxi" , that is it's only role is to deliver its bombs on-target, and get out.
Its three guns (two 23mm cannons and one 37mm cannon) are ineffective against everything such as infantry, light vehicles, and the occasional unsuspecting helicopter.
