The Motorisierte Schützen were the motorized infantry of the NVA.

The NVA's infantry employed the MPi-K assault rifle, which were modified and somewhat dated assault rifles during the game's era. The NVA was always considered a role model towards other Pact militaries, even though the equipment they used were old, they trained their soldiers very well.

Mot-.Schützen are considered shock infantry, however their availability and transports allow them to fill regular infantry roles. They have statistics and weapons similar to other shock infantry within Pact, but the big difference is that they are more trustworthy with clearing out forests from enemy armor due to their accuracy with their RPGs ('90 only).

History

During the creation and growth of the split German governments, East Germany's armed forces were very high quality, though they were not ahead of other countries during the arms race, nor were they as numerous, the NVA made up for this with hard training, and a very good officer and NCO corps. Before the development of the Berlin Wall, the NVA did not conscript, unlike the Bundswehr, who made service mandatory.

When conscription was legislated after the building of the Berlin wall, a whopping 50% of personnel were career soldiers. The NVA was considered a role model to other Pact armies, due to its discipline, tradition, and obedience to the country. A military cult was even made in the DDR, to honor their country's colors.

Despite disapproval of Nazist ideology, NVA was more heavily influenced by the Wehrmacht compared to the Bundswehr, as the DDR believed in militarism, the NVA even kept the grey service uniform used by the Wehrmacht, the only difference was the helmet design. All infantry within the DDR wore dark brown raindrop camo, with stone grey coats.

The DDR also had very organized military institutions, from education, to training. Eventually, "Guard" motorized units were made within the USSR, the only difference from them and other infantry would have been their uniforms, and superior training, other than that, they weren't armed with anything new.
