The Mountaineers are a new light infantry unit for the United States in the upcoming Magna Carta DLC for Wargame: AirLand Battle.
History[]
The US 10th Mountain Division was reactivated in 1985 as part of the XVIII Airborne Corps. Based in Ft. Drum, NY, they were tasked with deploying to Norway within 10 days in the event of an attack during the cold war.
These Mountaineers could also represent 3rd Battalion, 172nd Infantry Regiment (Mountain) of Vermont National Guard which specializes in mountainous and cold weather operations and was the only conventional unit which specializes in mountainous and cold weather operations
Cavalry Scout is a reconnaisance specialist in the US Army. These troopers serve as the commander eyes and ears on the Battlefield. Cavalry Scouts work to obtain, distribute and share vital combat and battlefield information on the enemy and on combat circumstances and environmental conditions.
Weapons[]
Red Dragon[]
Overview[]
AirLand Battle[]
They replace the ATGM Dragon II in the game and are the second light infantry choice for the United States with the first being the Light Riflemen. Unlike the light riflemen who are not available to the Mechanized and Armored deck types, the mountaineers are available to all deck types.
Red Dragon: Red Dragon[]
Due to the more powerful Light Riflemen '90 making them obsolete, the mountaineers have been renamed and re-roled in red dragon, they are now a 5-man recon team unique in that they are the only recon team with an ATGM. They are also the only US infantry to be able to use the M113A1 Dragon As their transport.
