The Panzerjäger (German: Tank Hunter) was first introduced in Wargame: AirLand Battle as an Anti-Tank Team. They were officially designated as a Fire Support Team in Wargame: Red Dragon.
History[]
RPG-7 is a anti-tank grenade launcher entered service in 1961 by GSKB-47 (Bazalt) as an improvement of the RPG-2. It has the function of launching different types of warheads to enhance anti-tank or anti-infantry capabilities. The V model (also known as 6G3) designed in 1962 has a upgraded PGO-7V optical sight.
Normally, RPG-7 will launch the PG-7 series shaped charge to defeat enemy armor, but this type of ammunition has limited anti-personnel capability. Fot those situations, RPG-7V can also fire the TBG-7V thermobaric or OG-7V fragmentation charges. However, since the Year of Panzerjäger was dated as 1980, their RPG-7V with the [AoE] label is more likely to be purely for game balance.
Overview[]
Red Dragon[]
RPG-7V is typically provided for Shock-level Rifle Squads (for GDR it is FJB-40). Compared to its peers, Panzerjäger's RPG-7V has significantly higher Accuracy (40% for Rifle Squads) and RoF (10 RPM for Rifle Squads), also AoE ability. However, the most important Range and AP Power for anti-tank operations have not changed. This makes it clear that Panzerjäger's performance will not be as good as their NATO rival SMAW (of course, the latter costs more).
Due to the fact that Regular 5-men squad is ultimately unable to participate in offense, and the RPG-7V has a relatively average range, Panzerjäger after all has fewer opportunities to be deployed. For Eastern Bloc, CSSR could deploy Granátomet AGS-17 for infantry support tasks.
