The Yebigun (Homeland Reserve) is a South Korean reserve infantry unit that appears in Wargame: Red Dragon.

History[]

The Homeland Reserve Force was established in April 1968 as part of a nationwide program to increase emergency defense capabilities against sudden North Korean aggression. The Hyangto Yebigun were historically a mostly "on paper" force to be called upon given any desperate wartime situation, i.e. war with the North. These forces serve as the homeland security either in the Homeland Infantry Divisions and regional reserves while the active army augmented by the reserves and Mobilization Reserve Forces moves to engage the enemy.

Overview[]

Equipped with M14 battle rifles and M20A1 Super Bazooka (originally they armed with M1 Garand or M1 Carbine only in that time but it was 'upgraded' to M14 for convenience), the main merits of having this infantry are that they are cheap and rather plentiful, not to mention a moderate increase in range, due to the use of a battle rifle. However, with only a few rockets to spare, they will soon be over-run by even a half-hearted tank force, so use their availability and numbers to the players advantage. As with all other reserve infantry and infantry in general, the most implaced units will take huge morale damage to scare weapons such as artillery, napalm and bombs.
